Blue Sky Reserve

If you are looking for a great hike...for a quick getaway with a friend or somewhere to take the kids...or ANY other reason you can think of...

I recommend Blue Sky Reserve in Poway.

The trail offers some beautiful forest-y spots and shade - so it's a great choice on a hot day.

Maps and reserve information is HERE

If you have kids, check out the reserves guided activities HERE

*When Matt was little, we were regular attenders at these events - the "Insects at Night" and "Hoot, Howl and Prowl" are amazing!

Anyway, back to our hike...

You'll see lots of amazing things!  (That black lizard was about a foot long and looked like he might run over and take a bite of our leg....we moved on quickly)

Big and small, lush and sparse, that reserve has it all.

If you are ambitious and looking for a work out, hike up to the Ramona Dam.  (This is the view from the top of the dam - looking east.)

And from the very same spot that I captured that photo of the Ramona Dam, if you spin around and face west, this is the view of Lake Poway and the Poway dam.

Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything that is beautiful; for beauty is God's handwriting - a wayside sacrament.  Welcome it in every fair face, in every fair sky, in every fair flower, and thank God for it as a cup of blessing.  ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
