Pack your bags and throw on a jacket we're headed to Russia for dinner!
This month was my turn to pick so I chose Russia since my hubby, Matt and I had visited Russia on a vacation a few years ago, so I was excited to share the food and atmosphere with my friends.
(Of course my Russian Nesting dolls set the theme and color palette for the table....)

Diane brought a lovely appetizer platter with pickled treats and sausage...

Wendy brought the most delicious fried cauliflower (so good!)

Betsy brought the freshest and most tasty Russian Rye bread with a big ole slather of butter...(of course she hand churned the butter from the cream of Russian cows...I think...Betsy can you clarify.....?)

And Jan prepared yummy orange cookies for dessert!
And what did I choose for the main dish you may be wondering?
Beef Stroganoff! (Created for a member of the large and important Stroganov family, in the 1800's)
The Beef Stroganoff Crockpot recipe I made is HERE (Except I used top sirloin, added a cup of white wine and used real mushrooms - it was delish!)

Cheers to world travel and good friends!

Russian Saying:
Щи да каша — пища наша (Shchi da kásha ― píshcha násha.)
"Shchi and kasha are our food.", c.f. English, "We are simple people, for this is all we eat."

Yes, I did indeed churn the milk from my Russian cow, Svetlana, and made my own butter. Svetlana was happy to contribute.
Many thanks to you and your cow! It was tasty!
