One overcast day last week, I was looking out my backdoor when a burst of vivid blue caught my eye...

When I spotted this cute little guy, of course I ran for my camera and big ole zoom lens...

(Couldn't resist sticking in that puffy, butt shot...pardon me...)

I followed him around the backyard just a bit...

And captured him enjoying a bite of lunch...

The Western Bluebird is a small thrush, approximately 5.9 in to 7.1 in in length.
Adult males are bright blue on top and on the throat with an orange breast and sides, a brownish patch on back, and a gray belly and undertail coverts. Adult females have a duller blue body, wings, and tail than the male, a gray throat, dull orange breast, and a gray belly and undertail coverts. Immature Western Bluebirds have duller colors than the adults, they also have spots on their chest and back.

Thanks Kim - glad you enjoyed a bit of spring!
I saw bluebirds for the first time in a bit today when I took my pooches for a walk in the park. YAY! Next up are the hummingbirds....can't wait!
